While some industries are experiencing muted urban demand, the travel and tourism sector continues to thrive, driven by post-pandemic growth. According to Aloke Bajpai » , Chairman and Group CEO of ixigo » , the company has seen record-breaking numbers in flight and bus bookings during the festive season. “Both flights and bus bookings saw over 50% year-on-year growth for Diwali. On certain routes, we’ve noticed a 70-80% increase, especially for international destinations like Thailand, Georgia, Bali, Vietnam, and Singapore,” Bajpai shared with DH.

The fastest-growing segments for ixigo, from July to September, have largely been in these regions. Bus bookings, in particular, surged by more than 60% on popular routes, with new travel hotspots like Pune, Indore, Coimbatore, Jaipur, Guntur, Rajahmundry, and Bhubaneswar attracting increasing numbers of travelers.
